Two Farmers Farm is a certified Organic four-season vegetable farm located on a historic farmstead in Scarborough, Maine. We’re a team of hardworking farmers using high-production systems, mechanization, and season-extension to grow a diversity of crops for local farmers’ markets, grocers, and restaurants. We strive to exemplify the potential for farmers to maintain a high quality of life while achieving excellent land stewardship, equitably supporting all members of the farm team, preserving rural heritage, and furthering the movement for a more sustainable food system.

Job description We have multiple positions open on our farm crew. The job descriptions & qualifications for these positions are essentially the same - the major difference is the schedule:
1. Year Round Crew Members: full-time year-round
40 hours/week April-December, Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday
30 hours/week January-March, Tuesday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday plus two weekend chore shifts/month

2. Year-Round Crew Member: full-time Apr-Dec, part-time Jan-Mar
40 hours/week April-December, Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday
10-20 hours/week January-March, bi-weekly Saturdays and 1-2 days Tues-Fri

3. Part-Time Year-Round Crew Member
2-3 days (approx. 20 hours)/week April-December, Monday-Saturday
1-3 days (approx. 10-20 hours)/week January-March, Tuesday-Saturday



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - JOB DESCRIPTION
Two Farmers Farm employs approximately 5-6 people full-time: the owners/General Managers Kelsey & Dominic, an 1-2 Assistant Manager(s), and 2 Crew Members. Crew Members are directed by, and work alongside, the General Managers & Assistant Manager, and participate in nearly all of the day-to-day operations. General duties include:

Harvesting produce
Washing and packing produce
Transplanting
Greenhouse seeding & propagation
Trellising & pruning tomatoes
Cultivation and hand weeding
Mulch laying and removal
High tunnel bed preparation and cleanup
Record-keeping
Farm maintenance
Mowing and line trimming
Row cover management
Disease and pest scouting
Staffing farmers’ markets
Crate washing
Other duties as directed


STARTS: Open until filled APP DEADLINE: Ongoing

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Farming experience is not required.
One season’s work experience in an outdoor field (farming, landscaping, trail work, outdoor contracting, outdoor education, etc.)
Excellent references
Proactive communication style
Attention to detail
Physical stamina in a physically demanding and fast-paced work environment
Positive attitude, agreeable disposition
Eagerness to learn and willingness to receive corrections constructively
Valid US driver’s license, clean driving record
Willingness to follow Two Farmers Farm’s standard operating procedures
Ability to do the following:
Accommodate the seasonal schedule
Work well in groups and independently
Think ahead
Lift, and walk a short distance with, 50lbs
Work outdoors all day in all weather conditions


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrable commitment to being a multi-year member of our farm team
Farming experience on a similar operation

COMPENSATION:
Starting pay is $13.50. Dedicated crew members are eligible for wage increases based on performance, responsibilities and commitment.
Generous bonuses are awarded seasonally.

In their second & subsequent years of employment, employees are eligible for hourly pay increases. They may also be eligible for promotions, increased autonomy, schedule/vacation flexibility, and/or advanced training.
