Company description Better Way Farms in West Windsor, VT is set on a beautiful 120 acres of mixed pasture and forest and looking to grow in 2020. We are a transitioning organic farm starting its third season growing primarily hemp for CBD oil. In addition, we maintain a flock of pastured laying hens, a small orchard, a large garden of vegetables and another garden for perennials. In addition, this year we will continue to expand our perennial plantings with more tree and small fruit. We will also add beef cattle to our livestock and possibly alpacas for fiber. We are committed to sustainable, regenerative practices and working to become self-sufficient and a closed-loop system. Internship description

The field crew members will be involved in all aspects of the farm. The work schedule is variable depending on the workload, with an average of 40 hours per week for full-time and 20 hrs per week for part-time, from May 1st through October 31st. These positions include seeding, transplanting, cultivating, harvest, drying, and processing of 5 acres of hemp along with field irrigation, fencing, greenhouse management and general land maintenance. In addition, there will be livestock chores involving current and future livestock. All workers were learn how to operate a 50+hp tractor. This is a great opportunity to learn about hemp cultivation and general sustainable agriculture principles while helping to build a budding farm.
 

There is a beautiful apartment on site available for use by the field crew members that is free of charge with utilities included. All farm workers are welcome to vegetables and eggs for their own consumption. In addition to housing, we offer a weekly salary that is commensurate with experience. 

Previous experience is not required, but a strong desire to learn and an ability to work outside in all kinds of weather for many hours is necessary. Any experience in carpentry, construction, or agriculture is a big plus. In addition, we would love someone with experience in sales or marketing to help broaden our markets. Candidates must be able to lift 50lbs and have a valid driver’s license. Flexibility and some weekend hours are required. The Farm Manager is willing to train the right person.
