Company description Pigasus Meats is a diversified livestock farm located in South Hero, VT, focusing on pasturebased laying hens and pigs. We rotate our animals over our acreage using portable electric fencing and mobile housing. We strive to give our animals the best possible lives on our farm, all while caring for the soil ecology, natural wildlife, and ecosystems that we work with and within. We will be raising 2100 laying hens this year, in addition to finishing around 150-200 pigs. We sell our products through the Burlington Farmers Market, an on-farm store, and wholesale markets in Vermont and Massachusetts. We take great pride in the food we produce and believe quality animal care is the key to a healthy, delicious product Job description We are looking for a full-time farm hand to work on our growing diversified livestock operation. Livestock experience is a plus but, not necessarily a requirement given the right candidate. This is a fulltime position ranging from 40-50hrs./week.

Tasks include but are not limited to: feeding, watering, setting up portable fence, general health checks, fence maintenance/clearing, egg washing, egg collecting, building projects, and staffing farmers markets. While we raise both pigs and laying hens, a good amount of work is devoted to the layer flock in terms of movement of portable range housing, egg washing, and egg collecting. Working with the pigs involves forage monitoring, fence building, and land clearing. The ideal candidate works well as a team member but is also comfortable in doing solo tasks such as fence clearing and egg collecting. Good humor, a sense of responsibility, and a willingness to work and learn are key traits that we are looking for in a future employee. This is a full-time, year-round position

Compensation Pay: $10.96/hr
Housing is provided in a modern on-farm apartment, separate from the main farm house. Eggs and pork are available to the employee.
-Utilities, WiFi, and access to laundry facilities are included with housing
