Operations Manager Puget Sound Food Hub Cooperative

  • Date Posted May 22, 2020
  • Location Mount Vernon, WA
  • Category Agriculture / Business
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description The mission of the Puget Sound Food Hub is to support and champion local, family scale farms by providing a direct connection with buyers in our region seeking high quality, locally produced food. Job description

The Puget Sound Food Hub — a member-owned farmer cooperative based in Mount Vernon, WA — is looking for an Operations Manager to support its future growth and operations.

In its 5th year as a co-op, the PSFHC has established itself as one of the region’s premier sources for locally grown and processed agricultural products. With its 60+ members representing some of the region’s best family farms and food processors, and its one order, one delivery, one invoice appeal for buyers, the PSFH has quickly emerged as a dynamic and impactful player in our local food and agricultural economy.

The Hub’s Operations Manager will work under the direction of the General Manager, and will work out of our distribution warehouse in Mount Vernon, WA, a small, vibrant city located on the Skagit River, just downstream from the arrestingly gorgeous North Cascades, south of the lively college town of Bellingham, and north of the Seattle metropolis.  The area is rich in outdoor sports and activities, with a robust local brewing and food scene as well as excellent educational opportunities from primary to university level.

The Operations Manager we seek embraces team building and collaboration and will bring these skills to work every day:

  • A strong commitment to local agriculture specifically — and to local business more generally — and a deep understanding of local food systems
  • The desire to listen to, actively engage with, and support their staff as the Hub grows
  • An appetite for problem-solving that respects both the opinions of other key players and the need to keep the train on schedule
  • Strong, practical skills necessary to oversee the day-to-day operations of warehouse and distribution service

This is a unique, challenging and rewarding position. If you are a skilled manager with a passion for local food and farming, this position may be the perfect fit for you.
