Company description

Wild Russet Farm is regenerative homestead farm growing vegetables, fruit trees and flowers in Jeffersonville, New York. We use only natural growing practices, with an ecologically minded &  diversified farm program and grow all our produce by hand. We sell our produce at two farmers’ markets and through a local CSA program.

 2020 Farm Crew Member
 

Wild Russet Farm is seeking a crew member to join our young team. Ideal candidates should have relevant farm or work experience but more importantly have a drive to learn and maintain a positive attitude. Candidates should have a background in organic farming, local food and/or community agriculture. We are a young, expanding farm in our second season, seeking candidates with eventual prospects for full-time employment. Experience with animals, carpentry or construction, educational activities, food processing or cider are a plus. 

 

Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Daily Farm Duties: weeding, trellising, planting, pruning 
  • Greenhouse care, watering, transplanting, seeding 
  • General animal care: watering, feeding, fencing  
  • Orchard maintenance: weeding, spray preparation, nursery care 
  • Assisting with harvesting, washing processing of produce 
  • Cleaning harvest crates and equipment

 

Requirements: 

  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Be driven to learn
  • Be reliable and punctual
  • Work well both independently & in a team environment 
  • Maintain positive approach with the public 

 

Compensation: Candidates will receive a seasonal stipend of $750, weekly produce, and bonus based upon performance at the end of the season.

 

Part-Time position: Minimum commitment of 2 days per week; 8 hours per day 

Date: Starting as soon as possible until September (or October for cider season)
