We are a rural farm to table destination/road house seeking new creative energy as we reopen after COVID 19. Seeking a creative hard working person to join our team temporarily. This is a guest chef position lasting until around November 1.
This position requires (3) 10 hour shifts per week as a line cook.
Job Duties
Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Answer, report and follow owner’s instructions
Clean up station and take care of leftover food
Stock inventory appropriately
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Requirements
Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
Familiar with industry’s best practices
Knowledge of a second language is a plus
Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
Ability to keep the kitchen organized, stocked and clean
Current California Food Handler Card
Compensation
$15.00 per hour
Our establishment practices tip sharing. Tips are shared with bartender, dishwasher, etc. No more than 3 people are on shift at a time. Tips may raise the hourly wage up to $20/hr during busy spring/summer season.
Tip sharing percentages are as follows:
50% to bar tender/server, 50% to line cook, if third person present, tips are divided three ways.
