Job descriptionWe are seeking to fill the role of a part-time gleaning coordinator who will be responsible for supporting gleaning operations along the northern Front Range.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Nurturing established relationships with local growers (i.e., farmers) and working to determine on a weekly basis what is available for gleaning and/or pick-up
- Outreach to local farms to develop new relationships and farm partnerships
- Organizing and advertising gleaning events in northern Front Range counties (i.e., western Adams, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, eastern Jefferson, Larimer and southwestern Weld counties) where volunteers will come to a farm to harvest food for distribution to local hunger-relief agencies
- Fostering existing relationships with local hunger-relief agencies and coordinating pick-ups and/or distribution of gleaned food
- Recruiting volunteers for gleaning events and supervising volunteer gleaning events, as well as training and coordinating with “Harvest Leaders” to supervise events and distribute food
- Assisting with volunteer-appreciation emails
- Taking photographs of gleaning events, and coordinating with UpRoot team members to create event flyers and social media posts about past/upcoming events, and spreading the word through local media channels
- Meeting grant deliverables and expectations, including data collection, reporting raw data internally and evaluation
Must haves:
- A valid driver’s license and reliable, personal transportation (you may be required at times to deliver gleaned food in your own vehicle)
- The ability to organize volunteers and collect and organize data
- The ability to follow and implement Covid-19 best practices (e.g., social distancing; wearing a face mask; hand washing)
- The ability to lift 40 lbs.
Good to have:
- Agricultural or food-systems experience
- An outgoing personality and the ability to work independently
- An entrepreneurial spirit, a flexible schedule and the desire to help co-create a more resilient food system
This role is currently part-time and non-exempt and will begin in mid-July and extend into November (approx. 20 weeks). The rate of pay is $18.00 per hour for up to 17.25 hours per week. Mileage reimbursement for role-specific duties is set at $0.30 per mile.
