Farm Hand Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve

  • Date Posted July 01, 2020
  • Location Montague, NJ
  • Category Agriculture / Nonprofit
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description

We founded Tamerlaine in 2013 on the idea that rescuing animals from industrial agriculture and introducing them to the public is one of the most powerful ways to create positive change for all animals and the world in which we live. We have been providing rehabilitation and exceptional care for abused, neglected, and otherwise discarded animals ever since. Our rescue efforts have grown organically to over 200 animal residents.

Tamerlaine Sanctuary originally sat on a 40-acre property, where only a portion of the space was useable for housing animals. Stunningly, an incredible property adjacent to our original sanctuary came onto the market, also known as the historic Westfall Farm, and thus began the next phase of our mission. This farm predates the Revolutionary War and was a stop on the Underground Railroad. We will honor this rich history of justice by making sure that each individual and unique animal who finds a home at Tamerlaine will be in our safe haven and receive the best care possible. The new 336 acre property is comprised of pristine and preserved farmland, equipped with beautifully maintained barns, stables, fenced in pastures, and hay fields.

The land has come to us as a perfect home for our rescued animals and with profound opportunities for conservation and wildlife protection.

Now, with this new site we are poised to offer unparalleled opportunities for our community with a unique hybrid focus on animal protection and conservation. We are embracing our expansion with all of our energy, passion, and determination. The number of lives, both human and non-human, that can be transformed, and the impact we can have for conservation in this new space will be profound.

We are open to the public for visits and events so that people can experience the transformative qualities of a sanctuary, connect with and learn to appreciate farmed animals as individuals, and experience nature at our Preserve.
