The Buyer is responsible for all purchasing of Dairy, Frozen, Grocery, Beverages and Non-Perishable items. This position is responsible for ensuring all items are ordered on a regular basis as well as received and stored correctly. Processing invoices in a timely manner, maintaining shelves and displays, and educating staff on new product attributes will also be required. You should have a passion for organic, sustainable, and delicious food, provide great customer service, be able to lift at least 50lbs, and have worked in a retail environment with purchasing and merchandising experience. Working knowledge of natural, organic, vegetarian, and other specialty cuisines, with understanding of various dietary restrictions is required.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and as-needed re-orders, keeping shelves full and ensuring adequate back stock, paying attention to product availability and inventory turns, maintaining an enticing, well rounded set of high-quality packaged products and ingredients.
  • Research new products as trends evolve or brands need replacements.
  • Communicate with vendors, negotiating prices to reach sales and margin goals.
  • Manage inventory database, including UPCs, product specifications, supplier information, case quantities and min/max levels.
  • Ensure effective product sell-through to eliminate/reduce waste.
  • Process and track invoices in a timely manner, ensuring that pricing is accurate.
  • Attend local vendor and trade shows.
  • Monitor and develop sale strategies for short-dated product.
  • Manage shelf planograms, create shelf tags, and ensure new products are out for sale.
  • Coordinate with marketing team to make signage for displays and sales
  • Proficient in Gmail, google docs, excel and data entry.
Candidate should have:
 
· Superior communication skills
· Passion for food and an extensive knowledge of dairy, frozen, grocery, beverages, and non-perishable items.
· Ability to take initiative, identify and resolve issues, and support a positive and professional work environment
· Great budgeting skills: attention to detail, COG's and understanding profit margins
· Ability to juggle communication and negotiation with multiple vendors on a daily basis
 
 
 
Compensation this position is : hourly, varies DOE, $17.00 - $25.00 Application instructions
