Fort Hill Farm in New Milford, CT is a 36-acre farm operating on land leased from The Nature Conservancy/Sunny Valley Preserve. Paul Bucciaglia and Rebecca Batchie operate Fort Hill Farm, which has been certified organic by Baystate Organic Certifiers since 2003 and adheres to the NOFA Farmers’ Pledge manifesto. The farm produces 40-50 types of Certified Organic vegetables for 300 CSA shareholders and customers at the New Milford and Westport Farmers’ Markets. The farm focuses heavily on soil nutrition through the growth of cover crops, and the application of compost and rock powders. It offers a full-season apprenticeship program for individuals interested in learning how to farm.
Job description
Farmers’ Market Stand Position Available (Westport, CT) A busy, organic vegetable stand seeks a reliable, energetic person to work at the Westport Farmers’ Market on Thursdays.
The hours are 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., every Thursday, through early November. Reliability is key.
The job requires the ability to:
- work in a fast-paced environment
- lift 50 lbs.
- have a great attitude while engaging with customers and coworkers
- follow the state guidelines for COVID 19 at farmers’ markets (mask, gloves, distancing, etc.)
The work entails:- checking out customers
- stocking vegetables/packing orders
- setting up/taking down tents and display
Hourly rate is $15 per hour. Enthusiasm for and knowledge of food are a plus.
