Broad Arrow Farm Market & Butcher is expanding its animal husbandry team farming 200 acres on the Pemaquid Peninsula, mid-coast, Bristol, Maine. The position requires at least five years’ of livestock experience and a passion for the animals and the land on which they live. Candidates who can work and communicate effectively in a team-oriented environment will be favored.
Broad Arrow is a vertically integrated farm, commercial kitchen, custom butcher, and retail food market. We use regenerative agricultural methods to build soil, sequester carbon, and raise the finest, most taste-memorable meat. Members of the farm production team contribute to all aspects of animal husbandry, annual and perennial crop production, and the resource management which underlies both. Livestock consists of hogs, sheep and poultry, including a woods-based farrow-to-finish hog operation with a herd of crossed heritage breeds and pure-bred Mangalitsas. The land base consists of 140 acres of forest, 30 acres of silvopasture, and 10 acres of grass pasture, presently covering two properties. The hog operation is our core agricultural business, and with continued development of silvopasture, we expect to expand sheep and poultry operations. Access to all necessary equipment and resources will be provided.
We market our products directly to consumers through both our on-farm Market & Butcher and on-line store. We also distribute to many of Maine’s finest restaurants, butcher shops and specialty grocers.
