Figg’s Ordinary is a dedicated gluten free bakery and café* located in historic Chestertown on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We serve breakfast and lunch Tuesday – Saturday where we feature locally grown produce and the best certified gluten free ingredients. Being gluten free is only one aspect of Figg’s Ordinary. Our kitchen is also refined sugar free and on a mission to be zero waste. We delight in being the place that creates healthy options!
*While our in-door seating area is currently unavailable, we have now pivoted to carryout service, online orders, and out-door seating. We look forward to again opening our in-door café area as soon as it is safe to do so.
Job descriptionFigg’s Ordinary, an innovative gluten and refined sugar free bakery and cafe seeks baker with a talent for innovative product, recipe and menu development and production, and experience bringing product to market.
Ideal candidate would be a self-starter, bring passion, creativity, and high energy to collaborate and innovate with our highly dedicated team. A nutrition background is a plus as we opt for highly nutritious product offerings and often accommodate special orders with specific dietary restrictions.
In addition to the changes brought on by Covid 19, we began 2020 with the goal of expanding into wholesale production. Now in our third year of business we are maintaining our menu of light fare and baked goods and expanding the distribution area for several of our most popular products, first regionally and later beyond. We are excited to bring Figg’s Ordinary products to more customers and this progression is a major focus in 2020. To help facilitate this expansion, we are looking for a baker who can reliably manage our day-to-day baking needs, as well as production for wholesale.
