Job description

Job Title: Creative Family Cook and House Manager for dynamic Brooklyn family

Location: Brownstone Brooklyn

Interacts With: Family, Assistants, Housekeepers, Tradesmen, AirBNB guests (post COVID)

What You’ll Do

  • Meal Prep and Execution: You’ll prepare lunch and dinner for the whole family as well as afternoon healthy snacks for the girls. We can meal-plan weekly or daily, whichever you prefer. Friday’s will be spent preparing family shabbat dinners and prepping meals for the family to reheat over the weekend.
  • Groceries: We’ll coordinate on groceries, ordering online from Fresh Direct, Whole Foods, Fulton Fish Market etc, and in-person shopping at Eataly, Trader Joe’s, our local fresh produce market, etc.
  • Girls on Task: You’ll make sure the girls get to their after-school activities on time, while balancing their school work, extracurricular preparations, music practice, mealtime and showers.
  • Light Housekeeping: You’ll ensure main floor common spaces, including the kitchen, are clean and well-organized, help keep the girls’ bedroom and online study areas tidy and presentable, water plants in and outside the home, and share in laundry duties, focusing on the girls’ laundry, sheets & towels.
  • House Management & Airbnb (post COVID): We have an active household! You’ll receive packages, send out dry cleaning, run errands, and interact with contractors and other household service providers. You’ll own the check-in/check-out process for garden level Airbnb, welcoming guests. You will occasionally “pinch hit” cleaning the Airbnb in time for the next guest when our housekeeper is sick/off.

What You Can Expect From Us

  • Mentorship & Career Development: Recent incumbents of this role have gone on to be a lawyer for a hedge fund, a professional playwright, and a recruiter for a top headhunter. We will help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be. References provided upon request.
  • Give & Take: We believe in work-life balance. If you have to stay late one day, you leave early another. If you’re on our team, then we’re on yours!
  • Fun: We work hard but don’t take ourselves too seriously. Girls love to sing Broadway show tunes and the household is always buzzing with energy.

What You Must Be

  • Creative & Gastronomic. You have serious chops in the kitchen, and create healthy, inspired cuisine.
  • Passionate & Committed. You are excited about supporting our family and will commit to 1 year minimum.
