Founded in 2018, we aim to build a collaborative, sustainable, and profitable grain economy in which local and regional businesses produce nutritious, flavorful, and consistent grain products. Our programming focuses on
- Expanding and strengthening the network of grain-economy participants in Virginia and surrounding areas
- Helping participants acquire the knowledge and skills they need through speaker series, workshops, hands-on training, and other educational opportunities
- Assisting participants, especially farmers, with market access
- Developing shared infrastructure
- Establishing farming and grain quality standards and certification processes that provide participants with a marketable quality rating
- Educating consumers and policy makers on the value of local and regional grains and artisanal grain products through advocacy and marketing
- Promote the Common Grain Alliance (CGA) mission, publicize our programming, and reinforce our brand.
- Amplify the voices of others, namely our members, our partners, and other regional grain initiatives, and other grain advocates including home bakers, farmers, chefs, millers, cooks, activists, and citizens. This content can be original, or a credited re-post made original by adding a comment, context, or showing how the effort complements CGA programming and objectives.
- Actively increase our followers by consistently engaging with accounts that engage with our posts and follow our branded hashtags, and by rewarding those accounts with comments, re-posts, and original content. Following interesting threads to selectively find new accounts to follow and engage with. No bots or blasts please.
You will be responsible for making sure you are allocating your content equitably across all accounts we are engaging with, and for tracking a few metrics in a spreadsheet so you can learn what types of posts work. You will prepare a short report to the Board of Directors once a month with your metrics (we will provide a template).
We will provide starting lists of member accounts and partners, on-brand hashtags to promote, and other hashtag clusters to draw upon, but you will be expected to maintain these lists to keep the account current. We will also help you with content, connecting you to members, helping with messaging, and suggesting topics, as needed.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week.
Compensation: $15-20/hr, DOE
Location: remote, but must be located with the CGA region (DC, VA, WV, MD, DE, NC, PA).
