Forest School Teacher Brooklyn Forest

  • Date Posted August 16, 2020
  • Location Brooklyn, NY

  • Job type Part-Time
Company description Brooklyn Forest offers classes in Central Park and Prospect Park for young children and their caregivers. We believe a wonderful childhood starts with imaginative play and a supportive community; with a meaningful connection to nature and wildlife; with vigorous physical work and nourishing food; with simple rhythms and constant singing; with feeling at home in the forest. Brooklyn Forest began in 2011 as a small class in the woods of Prospect Park for a handful of families from nearby neighborhoods. Now, nine years later, hundreds of children and caregivers from all over the city come every week to play and learn with us in the park. Our classes are still small, but our community is growing. Job description Brooklyn Forest is seeking an assistant forest school teacher to help guide our outdoor parent-child classes four mornings a week starting August 27 and continuing until Thanksgiving.

The weekly schedule is Tuesday through Friday, from 8:30 to 12:00 each morning, with one day teaching in Central Park and three in Prospect Park.

At Brooklyn Forest, we work to nurture the whole child with a simple class that includes imaginative play, delicious food, and a sense of wonder. Learn more about us at www.brooklynforest.org

Families enrolled in this season of all-outdoor classes have agreed to follow physical distancing guidelines, with all adults wearing masks. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to teachers.

The starting wage is $22/hr with paid training.

Teachers must be available Tuesday-Fridays mornings between August 25 and November 25. Compensation this position is : hourly, $20/hr + Application instructions
