Company description Green Dirt Farm was founded in 2008 to give form to our passion for good, clean food that is sustainably and humanely produced. Stretching over lush grassland in northwestern Missouri, our farm is a sheep dairy that believes pasture raised sheep are the happiest and most productive. We take great pride in the care and well-being of our animals. Happy animals give us great quality milk, that we then turn into delicious cheese. Job description The Head Affineur (who will also serve as the Quality Control point person) will oversee all affinage activities for Green Dirt Farm, to include detailed planning, record-keeping, training and management of assistants helping to perform the affinage work, as well as R&D planning and oversight for new techniques, all in collaboration with the Cheese Kitchen Manager. The Head Affineur will also plan, execute, and keep detailed records of our tasting program for Quality Control. They will be the point-person for choosing samples and designating which batches are to go to which buyer. This position will require 30-35 hours per week of hands-on affinage work in the aging rooms, with the remaining time dedicated to QC, planning, and record-keeping tasks. All responsibilities will be accomplished with the highest food safety standards in mind.

The Head Affineur is supervised directly by the Cheese Kitchen Manager. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Candidates must have at least one previous year of experience in Cheese, preferably 2 (in production OR mongering). Competitive benefits begin after 90 days of employment. Salary is possibility, DOE. Our facility is just outside of Kansas City, MO, on our sheep dairy farm, but within a year there is the potential to work at a newer location in downtown Kansas City 1-2 days per week.
