Lead Cheese Maker von Trapp Farmstead LLC

  • Location Waitsfield, VT
  • Category Agriculture / Production
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description von Trapp Farmstead is a family run organic-regenerative dairy in Waitsfield Vermont.  The dairy has been in our family since 1959.  In 2009 we started making cheese as a way to keep the farm in the family and create a more sustainable business.  We believe strongly in organic-regenerative practices and keeping Vermont a working landscape. We work hard to take great care of the land and animals so that our cows produce the best milk so we can make delicious cheese!  In an effort to complete another waste stream loop and add the most value, we started raising whey fed pigs that happily consume whey, the byproduct of cheese making.  They are also fed organic day old bread from Red Hen Bakery. We turn our byproduct and our neighbors byproducts into delicious whey fed pork salami to accompany our fine line of cheeses!
This past fall we opened our own on site Farm store and online ordering platform.  We now can sell all of our products as well as other local producers fine products directly from the farm.
