We cut a lot of meat! As a core member of our production team you will process meat to fulfill daily cut lists and care for our product. The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced whole-animal butcher with professional meat cutting and value added production experience. 100% commitment to minimizing waste while maintaining Primal Supply cutting style guides and production standards is required. A good attitude and solid communication skills are necessary. You should be comfortable working as part of a team and also able to work in a self-directed manner without constant supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process primals and sub-primals into portioned cuts per our cutting standards

  • Assist in management of meat inventory including stabilizing fresh product and cooler organization

  • Be able to work at a timely pace with precision and minimal waste

  • Clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards

  • Practice food safety and temperature control procedures at all times

  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings, as needed

  • Understand policies and practices that are relevant to our mission and be able to articulate these as a representative of our business

REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position requires a minimum of 1 year professional meat cutting experience from a retail butcher shop or meat processing operation. Whole-animal experience is preferred. 

  • Able to stand and walk for 8+ hours, work in a cold environment and be able to lift 50+ pounds from the ground

  • Fast learner with a desire to learn and a strong work ethic

  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team to ensure timely and organized work flow

  • Punctual, organized and detail-oriented

  • Proactive and open with communication

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers

  • Commitment to local food and sustainable meat production

This position is primarily based at the company headquarters at 1521 N 31st, (Brewerytown) Philadelphia PA with additional shifts assigned at the butcher shop at 1538 East Passyunk Avenue, (South Philly) Philadelphia PA.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

This position is full-time with pay rate and structure depending on experience. The ideal candidate will be available on weekdays and weekends with flexibility, as some days will end earlier or later than scheduled.

Please understand that as a food company, the holidays are a busy time of year, therefore time-off may be limited during these crucial times.
