Founded in 2012, Flocktown Farm is an organic fruit and vegetable farm located in Pittstown, New Jersey. Over the past 10 years, Flocktown has grown to become one of the largest Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms in the country, offering home delivery throughout NJ and NYC. We are a young, innovative, and rapidly growing team, dedicated to empowering motivated individuals to grow with us.

 

Job description

This position is ideally suited to ex-chefs and restaurant kitchen workers that are passionate about food, farm-to-table ethics, and that thrive in exciting, fast paced food environments. In addition to delivering 250 varieties of organic produce grown on our farm, we also distribute over a thousand gourmet food items from local organic and sustainable producers including cheeses, vinegars, mushrooms, flours, and much more. 

This position works directly under the Wash Barn Manager and assists in overseeing the smooth operation of all wash barn activities. Tasks in the wash barn include, washing, sorting, packing, storage, and inventory of all food and produce. The Assistant Wash Barn Manager may lead a team or work directly on these tasks, depending on the day. This position may also include some outdoor farming tasks, depending on the season.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have at least 3 years experience working in either a commercial kitchen, production farm, or warehouse environment. Please note that home gardening and equestrian farm experience does not count toward these requirements. Successful applicants will be ambitious self starters who bring energy and enthusiasm for our sustainable practices and products. Knowledge and interest in food, sustainable agriculture, and/or environmental issues is a plus. Ability to operate a forklift and speak Spanish also helpful.

Compensation:

Salary. Health Insurance. Two months PTO in January and February. Free produce, bread, and eggs. Grocery discount.
