Hudson valley Charcuterie produces small batch artisanal and seasonal value added products including sausage and pate exclusively from our own pigs raised on Raven & Boar Farm. We source ingredients including herbs and seasonal vegetables from local Hudson Valley and regional farms.

Raven & Boar farm raises pastured heritage pigs on 100 wooded acres in East Chatham, NY.

We raise various heritage breed pigs including: glochester old spot, hereford, berkshire, red wattle, tamworth and large blacks. The pigs diet includes local grain, planted forage crops like diakon, beets, oats and peas.

Raven & Boar Farm and Hudson Valley Charcuterie are seeking a Farmers’ Market Driver/Team Member for our weekly Farmers’ Markets in Brooklyn, NY.

 

Please contact Ruby for a full description of duties and requirements. This position is part-time, one - two days a week ( Saturday and Sunday ), pay will be determined depending on experience starting at $250.00 per market day. ( In addition to pay, we extend a $15 purchase credit to our contractors as well as a 20% discount off additional HVC products purchased. )

 

NOTE: APPLICANT FOR DRIVING POSITION MUST HAVE VALID DRIVER LICENSE AND 3 PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES. PREFERABLY EXPERIENCE DRIVING IN METRO AREAS ( NYC & BROOKLYN ). A CURRENT COPY OF THE APPLICANT’S DRIVING ABSTRACT IS REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION, AS WELL AS HAVING RELIABLE PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION.

 

Our Farmers’ Markets take place at the following locations for the dates listed. Please note that we are still in the process of confirming all dates in the schedule so not all dates have been finalized.

 

We are based in East Chatham, NY, and market days will begin and end at the farm with picking up the market vehicle preferably the night before the market.

Example of Saturday Brooklyn market day: 

Pick up vehicle Friday evening ( preferably ) or Saturday morning ( approximately / depending on weather / road conditions ) 4:30 am.   Meet additional Bklyn based staff member and start Ft. Greene market setup from 7:15 to 7:45 being ready to sell by 8:00 am. You will sell to the public from 8 am to 3 pm or until sold out. Repacking the vehicle to match the morning loading generally starts no earlier than 2:00 pm ( weather or other on site conditions depending ).  Return traveling to the farm to complete the day and helping to remove coolers and market materials.

 

In addition to the dates below we have a few Special Events that will be added to the schedule throughout the season on Saturdays and Sundays ( Covid-19 dependent ).

 ( 10 am - 2 pm )

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

 

SKILLS

Must have good communication and organizational skills, have an interest in local/sustainable food, and work well in a fast-paced energetic, outdoor environment for prolonged durations while delivering a positive and pleasant customer experience. Exemplary Team Members would be considered for Farmers' Market Management after the initial training period. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

-Ability to meet physical demands of the job including standing for long periods of time, bending, lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.

-Operate register and responsibly handle a variety of payment methods, including cash and credit/debit cards ( Square POS on tablet/phone ).

-Weekend & Holiday availability required.

-Flexibility in shift coverage to meet changing needs of business ( i.e. working a different market location, special event days, etc. ). 

-ServSafe and/or Allergen Awareness Certification and a love of pork is incredibly beneficial.

-Valid driver's license with reliable transportation preferred. We are a very small team and rely on ever member to be on time for every shift. Even if you're not expected to drive for this job, you will need to have a reliable commuting plan ( and backup plan ) to show your ability to arrive to work consistently and on time.
