Company description Firelands Winery is one of Ohio's oldest wineries, located in the lakeside town of Sandusky. The original cellar, which is still used today, was built in 1880 by the Mantey family. The winery produces and bottles wine for the Mantey, Mon Ami, Lonz, and Firelands brands amongst others. The attached tasting room and restaurant is a popular tourist destination showcasing our unique Ohio wines. The estate vineyard Vitis vinifera varietals are lovingly crafted in an austere and old-world style, while the distinctive Vitis labrusca grapes are vinified and blended to create a taste of sweet, juicy, Americana. Firelands Winery seeks a full-time cellar worker. This position requires good situational awareness, physical fitness, and attention to detail. The cellar worker will support winemaking staff by cleaning tanks, using pumps to move and mix wines, receiving fruit and juice, pressing, racking, filtering, barrel work, and other duties as needed. The cellar hand will also support winery priorities by helping on the bottling line, in the warehouse and in the vineyard as needed. Applicants should be able to lift and carry 50 lbs, climb up stairs and ladders, and work in enclosed spaces. Applicants must also accept a flexible schedule during the harvest season (Aug – Nov), which will include long days, weekend work, and overtime.

Qualifications: Common sense, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude are the ultimate requirements for the position. Previous experience in wine or beverage production and forklift certifications are preferred but not required.
