Company description WHO WE ARE
  • Sigmund’s pretzels is a Bushwick based artisanal soft pretzel bakery founded in 2009. You can find our pretzels on the menus of the best NYC bars and restaurants. During pandemic we opened an online store www.sigmundnyc.com. Now the lovers of pretzels all over the country can have a box of fresh pretzels shipped to their door.
  • Throughout the pandemic we became a team of three bakers. As our customers are reopening in NYC we are looking to grow our team back. We expect to grow to a team of six bakers by the end of 2021. 
  • Lina Kulchinsky, founder and one of the bakers is an ICE alum of pastry and baking program (class of 2006).
  • Our soft pretzels are all natural, hand rolled, baked fresh daily. Our original salted pretzels are great, but we are known more for our flavors like truffle cheddar, churro, garlic parsley, etc

Job description
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
  • You have worked in a restaurant or bakery where you had to work on the same physical task for 3-4 hours, 5 days a week. Did you fry donuts for 5 hours straight? Did you scoop cookies for 3 hours straight? Did you try to roll out the pie crust more even every time? If you did and you enjoyed it - please apply right away. We are looking for YOU! Artistry through repetition!
  • you can stand for 8 hours.
  • you can lift 50 lbs.
  • you live in Bushwick, Bedstuy, Williamsburg and don't rely on public transportation to commute. We are located in Bushwick. Being on time is imperative. Subways are not reliable. If you are late because of subway delay - the whole team suffers. 
  • You prefer to stay at the same workplace for 2-3 years.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Production (90%)

  • assist during baking time and packing time
  • make dough and portion in containers
  • roll and twist pretzels (you will be trained)

Maintenance (10%)

  • wash floors,  sheet pans, organize fridge and freezer, clean the bathroom.
  • wipe down equipment, put away deliveries, cardboard.

SCHEDULE

  • 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday. Overtime during holiday season.
  • Flexibility with coming earlier and staying later when needed is a PLUS.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • full time position. 9am-5:30 pm Monday - Friday.
  • Each shift includes two15 minute breaks.
  • Training period of 8 weeks - $15/hour. $20/hour once training is successfully completed. 
  • 1 week paid vacation after a year of continuous full time employment.
  • 5 days paid sick days after 6 month of continuous full time employment
