ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Prep and cook food to meet the needs of the Café, meeting and exceeding diner’s expectations in quality, and timing of meals.
  • Create menu items that are nutritionally balanced, diverse, and appetizing, featuring organically grown and seasonal produce from the Matthew 25 Urban Farm.
  • Develop market night offerings for the Urban Farm using the outdoor brick-oven and grill.
  • Create, promote, and deliver various food classes.
  • Create, promote, and deliver food centered events.
  • Manage inventory control and ensure processes are in place to efficiently make meals.
  • Participate in hiring and training of all Groundswell staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee and coordinate work of volunteers who are engaged in preparing and serving meals, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
  • Operate all food services in compliance with established health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Create a team atmosphere that promotes camaraderie
  • Collaborate with the Groundswell Director to determine who is responsible for negotiations with vendors and purchases supplies.
  • Collaborate with Groundswell Director to establish fresh on-the-go menu items for the Cultivate Hope Corner Store.
  • Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies.
  • Display and promote company values.
  • Regular attendance as determined with your leader.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Education in culinary arts and/or previous experience in a relatable field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading a kitchen team.
  • Knowledge and passion for locally sourced foods.
  • Experience with vegetarian and vegan cooking.
