Job description

Colorado Farm and Art Market (CFAM) is seeking a year-round part-time Market Manager to administer, promote, develop, and manage operations of our year-round farm and art market.

CFAM is devoted to nurturing relationships between consumers, farmers, and artists through the operation of cooperative urban markets.  Our organization seeks to grow community across urban and rural boundaries and promote and sustain local and regional economies.

Market Manager Duties:

  • Market Coordination at twice weekly Summer markets (June-Oct) and once monthly winter markets throughout the off-season. This includes set-up, take down, vendor coordination, overseeing CFAM booth fruit sales, and managing SNAP bucks
  • Administrative roles including member recruitment and education, volunteer recruitment and coordination, secretarial duties, vendor management, communications, accounting, and records keeping in coordination with our accountant
  • Managing the Market Assistant June-Oct and coordinating market booth staff
  • Promotion and marketing (including website and social media) to grow the market
  • Development work including capacity building, grant writing, and collaboration with CFAM board to fundraise and improve the organization in creative ways
  • Working with nonprofit and community partners to deliver education at the markets, do market outreach, and help more people reach our markets more equitably


Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Passionate advocate for local farming, art, and farm products consistent with CFAM mission
  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish are a plus
  • Nonprofit, farming, retail, management or community organizing experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Some bookkeeping experience (preferably with Quickbooks)
  • Organized, efficient, and detail oriented
  • Must enjoy working with people
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution skills
  • Marketing and program development skills and experience
  • Computer skills a must


Employment Period and Work Hours:

Year round, part-time, position with 20 - 25 hrs/week April through October (usually 20 with the very rare 25 hour week during the peak of our season) and 10 hours/week Nov-March. Market Manager independent contractor with no retirement or health care benefits associated. Flexible hours with the exception of attendance at markets. Payment is negotiable, with a monthly stipend starting of $1200/month (even in the winter months when there is only about 10 hours worth of work per week). We've found in previous years that having the consistency of the stipend allowed managers to stay on through the off-season and led to less turnover and more consistency for everyone year round, despite the seasonality of our work. 

This position reports directly to the CFAM Board of Directors.
