Kitchen Manager, Vegetarian Cook Ratna Ling Retreat Center

Ratna Ling Retreat Center is seeking an experienced kitchen manager and lead cook to plan and create delicious vegetarian meals for our residential community and retreat guests.
Start date 5-15-21 or sooner. Year-long or greater commitment is required.
Responsibilities:
- Menu planning, food ordering and inventory management
- Management and training of all-volunteer staff as needed
- Guide kitchen crew in preparing delicious, balanced vegetarian meals for 20-50 guests and staff
- Personally act as the lead cook for 3 to 6 meals per week
- Oversee general kitchen maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation
- Coordinate with on-site garden staff to plant, harvest and utilize our homegrown organic produce
- Oversee completion of food handling course for all volunteers

Desired Qualifications:
- Past experience working in a retreat center, commercial kitchen and/or restaurant as a kitchen manager
- Training and/or experience as a head chef or cook
- Familiarity with vegetarian cuisine, experience with international cuisine is a plus
- Flexibility and willingness to accommodate dietary restrictions & preferences such as vegan and gluten free
- Reliable, hard-working, organized with attention to detail
- Creative, flexible, uplifting and positive attitude
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Baking skills are a plus
This is a paid position at a volunteer-run, non-profit retreat center in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. This position offers:
- Hourly wages for a 30 to 40 hour work week
