Company description The Dalton School is a K-12 Independent school in New York City committed to providing an education of excellence.  We teach cooking and nutrition at all grade levels, and have recently opened a Teaching Kitchen for middle and high school students. Job description The Dalton School seeks a part-time kitchen manager to assist in ordering, organization, preparation and execution of culinary courses, programming and events. Dalton’s vibrant teaching kitchen is home to a number of culinary integrations within academic classes and special events geared toward culinary education. Our culinary program connects to many aspects of food including nutrition, supply chains, food insecurity and hunger, cultural and international perspectives, and farming in our connected greenhouse. Successful candidates must possess a detailed knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, Department of Health standards and a commitment to culinary education. Prior experience teaching or working with young people is ideal.

Essential Responsibilities
 Oversee teaching kitchen ordering, storage and inventory
 Manage necessary preparation for all classes and events
 Assist Dalton faculty and staff in executing classes and programs
 Collaborate with the High School Administration to ensure successful kitchen operations
 Create an inclusive, welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff
 Ensure health and safety protocols are strictly followed by all constituents
 Supervise students and support school operations.
 Some early evening hours required; split shifts a possibility

Qualifications
 2 years’ experience in professional kitchen operations or a related field
 Excellent time management and organizational skills
 Ability to enforce stringent health and safety protocols
 Facility with relevant technology and prompt email communication
 Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace
