We ask our update editors to commit between 20 and 40 hours a week, and to keep week-to-week variation to a minimum (i.e., avoid exceeding or falling short of their weekly committed hours). This position is remote and ideal for someone who is looking to have steady, reliable hourly work from week to week. The rate for this role is $25/hour. Unfortunately, we can only consider candidates who are residents of the United States and Canada.

About Your Contributions:

  • Review existing articles and recipes and revise content according to project instructions, brand and style guidelines, and editorial judgment
  • Identify and update outdated material, noting where visuals need improvement
  • Place photographs and other visual assets in accordance with recipe steps and instructions, noting when assets are unavailable or low quality
  • Use editorial judgment and guidelines to merge and reformat multiple articles featuring redundant content.
  • Copyedit, fact check, and potentially rewrite content
  • Spot and either rectify or flag errors/potential pitfalls in recipe copy

About You:

  • At least 4 years of experience editing in the food and beverage space, preferably for a digital brand
  • Strong copywriting and copyediting skills, with a demonstrated ability to capture brand voice/identity in tone and structure
  • Professional cooking experience and/or culinary school strongly preferred, including experience writing and developing recipes and an ability to match images with culinary instructions
  • Familiarity with international ingredients and cuisines
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-focused, and able to work independently and accurately
  • Comfortable with content management systems
