Internship description

The Role: 
The MSG Video Internship is a summer internship for the next generation of video producers obsessed with food and the engaging content that surrounds it. The internship will consist of apprenticing members of the MSG media team, learning the ins and outs of Marcus Samuelsson’s brand, and ultimately executing a short video series. 

This is the perfect internship for someone interested in pursuing a career in food media, entertainment, or creative services, who is fascinated by the stories that can be told by chefs and understands that they have an increasingly important voice in the urban and political landscape, all fueled by media. 

This is a flexible 8-10 week paid summer internship that will be both remote and in-person in Harlem, New York. The internship will be 2-3 days per week and will be virtual with occasional on-site visits (COVID protocol must be followed). MSG offers paid summer internships in order to be more accessible to people regardless of economic status. 

 

You Will:

  • Organize Marcus’ existing YouTube channel page
  • Conceive, produce, shoot, edit a video series for one of Marcus Samuelsson’s social media channels
  • Attend internal Weekly Social Media Meeting
  • Work with the MSG media team on select projects as needed and desired including website management and social media 
 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience creating compelling, shareable video content
  • Proficiency with DSLR cameras, sound/lighting equipment, and editing suites a plus
  • Adobe Creative Suite and on set experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently


About Marcus Samuelsson:

Marcus Samuelsson is the acclaimed chef behind Red Rooster Harlem, Ginny’s Supper Club, Marcus B&P, Red Rooster Shoreditch, Red Rooster Overtown and many others from Bermuda to Scandinavia. A committed philanthropist; and the youngest person to ever receive a three-star review from The New York Times, Samuelsson has won multiple James Beard Foundation Awards including Best Chef: New York City, and was tasked with planning and executing the Obama Administration’s first State dinner. Samuelsson was also crowned champion of television shows “Top Chef Masters” and “Chopped All Stars”, and served as a mentor on ABC’s “The Taste”. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Samuelsson converted his restaurants Red Rooster Harlem, Marcus B&P in Newark, and Red Rooster Overtown in Miami into community kitchens in partnership with World Central Kitchen, serving over 230k meals to those in need. 

Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr +
