Cook, with leadership potential Granor Farm

  • Date Posted June 08, 2021
  • Location Three Oaks, MI
  • Category Agriculture / Culinary
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description

Granor Farm
Founded in 2006 and located in Three Oaks, Michigan, Granor Farm is a certified organic farm that cultivates a wide range of vegetables, berries, herbs, flowers and grains on over four hundred acres. Our Farm Store features all that we grow along with house made and regional foodstuffs.  What we grow often become the ingredients for what we make. For example, our wood oven baked breads use flour milled from our wheat and other grains. Our farming is also complimented by educational programing, spirits distilled from our grains and in the future wines aromatized with our herbs, botanicals, and berries. Weekly farm dinners in the greenhouse showcase our crops and those of the surrounding farming community.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced cook to join our food and dining program.  Broadly, the position includes involvement in all aspects of production from harvesting ingredients with our experienced field crew, to cooking in our brand-new, open greenhouse kitchen, and serving that food tableside at our Taste of Granor Dinners. This is a unique opportunity where cooks will participate in menu planning, food preparation, and meal service all in one of the most beautiful places (and kitchens) on earth. We are not a restaurant; we are a farm that cooks. We are also growing rapidly and looking for curious individuals who want to grow with us.

In addition to planning, preparation, and execution, cooks will be a part of ingredient cultivation, our wood-fired oven baking program, spirit production, preserving, product sourcing, financial training, and lean practices education.

It doesn’t get any more “farm-to-table” than a meal where the kitchen and dining room are 30 feet from the field and the chefs have also helped plant and harvest the ingredients. If you are seeking a role in food that is physically connected to the land where its grown and want to continue to advance as a cook over a long-term career, Granor Farm could be the place for you.
