Homestead Manager Homefront Farmers

  • Date Posted June 21, 2021
  • Location Redding, CT
  • Category Agriculture
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description

At Homefront Farmers, we are passionate about bringing the benefits of an edible organic garden to clients throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties. Our employees are committed to helping others grow delicious food and create a more sustainable future.

Our home base is located on 11 acres in Redding, CT.  At our location, we have a 30’ x 90’ greenhouse where we grow seedlings for our clients and our community.  Our farmhouse is where we gather for meetings (pre- COVID) and a place for us to hunker down by the wood stove during the winter.  This is a place where we get to experiment with growing techniques in our Model Gardens and our half acre farmable field.  In 2020 we built a Maple Syrup Sugar Shack, where we process the sap from our 180 Sugar Maples that line our property.  And we’ve also begun growing medicinal, gourmet mushroom varieties, such as Shiitake, Oyster, and Lion’s Mane on logs outdoors and in our newly built indoor mushroom grow room.  And lastly, we have 6 beehives that help to pollinate our plants.  We see our business as an adventure and believe in the power of creativity, invention and a can-do attitude to change the world.

Our Homefront Farmers team is highly self-motivated, hard-working, reliable and focused on quality at all levels of the job.  We are independent self-starters who don't want to just satisfy clients, but to delight them and bring them joy. We strive for excellence in all that we do.

We believe above all else, that everyone has the ability to contribute to the health of the planet.  We are experts in sustainable horticulture and we are committed to bringing that knowledge to everyone we meet. Our passion for environmental stewardship is unyielding!  We are good, kind, authentic people, united by a love of nature and healthy living.  We always assume good intent and we thrive in an even-keeled work environment where honesty, integrity and teamwork carry the day.
