Job descriptionJob Overview
The Deputy Director is one of three director-level positions. The person in this role will have extensive opportunity to co-direct and create programs, working with the Executive Director and Operations Director to improve our staffing, fundraising, and program models. This model of three directors allows specialization and ownership, as well as a sense of teamwork at the top of the organization. As a small but growing organization, there will be many hands-on components of the job, in addition to the long-term strategic aspects. If you love setting and achieving a grand vision, but also don’t mind moving chairs, this may be the role for you.
The Deputy Director is responsible for overseeing core components of operations, organizational structure, and personnel management for Farming Hope. This is a role with a high expectation of co-ownership and commitment at the organizational level. While initially wearing several hats, this new position is part of the process of intentionally specializing roles within Farming Hope as we structure for growth.
Farming Hope is at a growth point, requiring experienced and visionary staff to help lead our multi-location model, first toward greater impact and organizational sustainability, then toward healthy and community-driven expansion.
While this is a challenging role, there will also be intentional opportunities for learning and growing as a project and personnel manager, as well as an inclusive community leader. As a job training nonprofit, Farming Hope advances a culture of continual learning and professional development, emphasized by our participation in national networks and conferences including the Catalyst Kitchens and REDF networks, as well as weekly check-ins and open access to colleagues and external mentors for coaching and support.
