Interested in working a daytime job? Want to have a voice in a successful yet growing company? We're seeking a sous chef for our women-led catering kitchen and cafe! The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized and eager to learn.
- Producing a wide variety of vegetable and meat dishes, dips, platters, hors d'oeuvres, sandwiches, salads, soups, cured/pickled items and much more!
- Working alongside prep cooks to execute orders for the day in an efficient and timely manner
- Following recipes and procedures
- An eye for presentation and clean plating
- Creating prep lists for multiple menus and thinking two steps ahead when the chef is not in
- Easily adaptable to changes in the prep lists and production
- Ordering from and communicating with local vendors
- Expediting and overseeing catering orders alongside the chef
- Communicating with the sales and management teams
- Occasionally transporting products and equipment between our two locations
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience cooking in a professional environment
- Management experience a plus but not required for the right candidate
- Mentally and physically organized
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Able to carry items up and down one flight of stairs every day
- Positive, detail-oriented + eager to learn
- No egos and no sexist, racist or homophobic humor
