Company description

NotMilkNYC is a small woman-owned business in NYC, making organic, fresh, plant-based milks right here in our LIC kitchen. Our milks are made fresh daily from natural, minimally-processed ingredients: nuts, seeds and grains. 

 

As a zero-food-waste business, we also sell flours, butters, and spreads made from upcycled nuts! We source all ingredients as locally as possible and are proud to offer 100% New York State grown and produced Oat Milk and Pumpkin Seed Milk.

 

NotMilk is also a model zero-waste producer: from reusable delivery bags, glass bottles, and upcycled almond meal, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact.

Job description

About the Role

We are a tiny team, and we are looking for a Sales & Marketing Manager with a passion to grow our small company. You will report directly to the founder and CEO, and you will be working independently most of the time. We’re looking for an individual with a diverse skill set who is not afraid to get their hands dirty (metaphorically speaking, but you might also spill some milk). This role will involve wearing many hats! 

We are about to go through a rebranding process and will have a completely new name and look as of November 1st, so this role will be instrumental in implementing new brand guidelines and making a splash on social media with our upleveled look! 

This position is remote, but you must be able to be in NYC once per week. 

Role Objectives

  • Lead NotMilk’s Sales & Marketing efforts
  • Grow our NYC weekly fresh milk subscriber base and increase brand awareness throughout NYC
  • Strategize and grow our Farmer’s Market presence and other pop-up opportunities in NYC

Responsibilities

Website Management and Customer Support 

  • Manage user experience on website (Shopify) and troubleshoot any issues through checkout 
  • Improving website conversion and SEO
  • Respond to customer inquiries and help to solve any order issues 

Sales

  • Chasing up with new wholesale leads
  • Manage relationships with partners and B2B customers, including onboarding
  • Identifying new sales/event opportunities
  • Identifying new brand partnerships and collaborations

Customer Retention

  • Improving Customer Experience from order placement through delivery receival, including managing printed marketing materials and loyalty program 
  • Strategizing to improve conversion from one-time customer to subscriber 
  • Strategizing to bring old subscribers back as well as reach new potential subscribers
  • Implement surveys about what additional products customers want from us

Content Creation and Marketing:

  • Coordinate marketing across all channels including social media and manage marketing/social media calendar 
  • Write blog posts for website about zero waste topics and new recipes with our milk of the month
  • Write weekly email campaigns with product highlights and other news 
  • Send weekly SMS marketing blasts to several audience segments 
  • Oversee IG, Tik Tok, FB pages with the help of social media intern 
  • Roll out monthly promotions and specials

Product

  • Help brainstorm and research new packaging ideas 

TBD: Farmers Market (~3 Markets per month during market season)

  • Engage with customers to build up our presence and help us get sales
  • Grow SMS opt-ins at market and convert customers to subscribers
  • Provide feedback and implement suggestions for improving our presence and engagement at the market

Requirements

  • A passion for local, organic foods made fresh with simple ingredients! 
  • Team player energy, with a willingness to take on unexpected challenges and responsibilities
  • Must be more than comfortable working independently most of the time and with little direction 
  • Must be a self-starter
  • 2+ years experience in a leadership role at a small company 
  • Proven track record of helping a small business grow its customer base
  • 2+ years marketing and content creation experiencing 
  • 2+ years customer service or customer experience management 
  • 2+ years sales experience 
  • Project management experience a plus 
  • Experience using Shopify and Omnisend email marketing preferred
  • Impressive creative copy writing skills 
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with InDesign and/or Canva preferred, but not required

Compensation and Benefits:

Competitive Salary of $60,000 / yr

15 paid vacation days, including sick days
