Job description

We’re looking for a detail-oriented planner and problem solver to manage all aspects of operations. This position will oversee everything from production planning, co-manufacturer management, sourcing, supplier relationships, QA and inventory management; to sales fulfillment, and logistics. As a critical member of the team, you’ll also be able to have an impact in other functional areas of the company, such as new product development, branding, and marketing. We’re a small and growing company, and the ideal candidate will be flexible, comfortable wearing many hats, able to track detail and process, and work with the team to drive system changes to take our operations to the next level.

Responsibilities

Production Management:

  • Planning and forecasting in partnership with Sales team, via analysis of inventory and sales
  • Sourcing and purchasing of raw materials and packaging
  • Coordinating production timeline with co-manufacturers for multiple product lines
  • Researching and scheduling freight to move raw goods, packaging and finished goods
  • Effectively building and managing strategic relationships with growers, co-manufacturers, shippers, and suppliers to keep things running smoothly
  • Identify new supplier, manufacturing, and warehouse partners as needed to ensure both capacity and quality needs are being met as the company grows

Inventory:

  • Track and manage inventory systems for multiple off-site warehouses and on-site stock room. Trouble shoot when issues arise.
  • Maintain adequate stock at warehouses to ensure exceptional fulfillment rate while minimizing inventory investment
  • Practice FIFO and control quality of all raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products

 

Sales Fulfillment:

  • Process all incoming orders from distributors, direct customers, and e-commerce sales.
  • Arrange with warehouses for fulfillment, including FBA Amazon.
  • Book shipping or freight if necessary, and confirm pick up dates
  • Manage part-time assistant responsible for in-house fulfillment of e-commerce orders including packing and shipping and in-house production.

Administration:

  • Responsible for cost analysis and pricing strategy
  • Update and manage internal databases, spreadsheets and reports on production, inventory, shipping logistics, sales and expenses
  • Partner with accounting to ensure all operational finances are reconciled
  • Provide reporting to CEO on production, inventory, and order status. Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team
  • Oversee company’s Food Safety Program and Organic Systems Plan, as well as all certifications (CCOF, Non-GMO, etc.)
  • Maintain and organize all necessary certifications from growers, suppliers and co-manufacturers

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in an Operations or Production role at a food business, including knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes – experience working with distributors and freight booking is a plus.
  • Track record of exceptional customer service, supported by outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to prioritize work effectively, problem solve and handle detail-oriented projects in a systematic and highly organized manner.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Experience with accounting software, inventory management software, FBA Amazon a plus but optional
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task; demonstrated desire to learn
  • Self-starter able to work independently and as a team player
  • The highest level of integrity and good judgment
  • A sense of humor and the ability to quickly switch gears when the unexpected happens
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a car for occasional warehouse pickups; able to lift and carry 50lbs on semi-regular basis
