Bklyn Larder is a celebration of good food. A retail cheese and provisions shop, making our own pastries, prepared foods and AMAZING sandwiches. Bklyn Larder has been providing the Park Slope and Prospect Heights community with a welcoming place to find and enjoy hand-crafted cheeses, homemade prepared foods, and hard-to-find grocery items since its opening in June of 2009.

We are a team of dedicated and knowledgeable individuals eager to share our knowledge and passion with our customers and to bring the work of talented international and local producers of cheeses, meats, dairy products, jams, honeys, oils and more to our market.

Job description

BKLYN Larder seeks a Store Manager to ensure a warm and enjoyable work environment for all FOH staff and maintain superior experience for all customers.
We are looking for someone who can not only jump in but also help keep everyone else motivated and on task. 
This role will be in partnership with our two other managers. You will be working as a team to ensure that daily, weekly and monthly store goals and objectives are met. 

This is a great position for someone who wants to stay be in the restaurant industry but step away from late nights. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Training staff on all areas of product (perishable and non), and customer service.
  • Maintaining store quality control, a high level of service, and an adherence to DPH health and safety practices new and old.
  • Setting the highest standards for customer service, and helping to supervise staff in doing the same. Includes forming and maintaining relationships with customer base.
  • Helping to create and implement practices and procedures
  • Work closely with the purchaser and Manager to curate the stores offerings

Candidates must have the following qualities:

  • Minimum one year prior restaurant/market/QSR managing experience
  • Ability to direct, train and mentor staff
  • Ability to hold a high standard without being pretentious
  • Strong multi tasking and organizational skills and an impeccable attention to detail
  • Desire to elevate service and foster a positive/fun work environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Wear many hats and understand the requirements of working for a small business
Prior cheese knowledge and basic understanding of cheese care is a plus!!! Compensation this position is : hourly, $15-20/hr Application instructions
