The Opportunity:

We’re looking to bring on an exceptional General Manager who’s excited to help us launch the wine bar and build the team and reputation in the community. The GM is responsible for creating an inspiring experience for our guests. They give outstanding service by meeting and exceeding our guests’ expectations and providing excellent service to our guests and team.  Their responsibilities include assisting in the smooth and seamless operations of the business, reaching wine bar goals, upholding product quality and consistency standards, controlling inventory levels and mitigating waste, maintaining equipment and facilities, and safely handling all of our products and equipment.

We aim to provide all of the benefits of a larger organization with proven systems and infrastructure but with the intimacy of a smaller business. 

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcomes guests, provides expertise and assistance on the floor for both customers and staff.
  • Keeps the floor neat, clean, and guest-ready.
  • Receives, organizes and stocks all inventory and supplies & oversees staff’s support with this.
  • Keeps the business running smoothly by managing all needs of the floor, placing orders, managing inventory, overseeing the maintenance of the space, the wine cabinet, regular rotation of product, etc.
  • Handles all staffing and employee management responsibilities, including hiring, training, professional development, performance management, scheduling, evaluating, documenting performance reviews, issues and terminations.
  • May purchase all FOH beverages and supplies and oversees use of food and beverages within required dates and with a minimum of waste.
  • Supervises staff in terms of food preparation, beverage service, customer service, cleaning, and repairs to restaurant and grounds.
  • Maintains security of money, financials, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and supplies. 
  • Promotes cooperative effort, a team spirit, and good morale among employees.
  • Delivers excellent customer service including personally greeting and seating guests. Touches tables, has a well-known presence on the floor, and knows our guests by first name. 
  • Resolves complaints from customers in a polite, friendly manner.
  • Performs periodic audits to check safety and functioning of equipment. Addresses problems involving the cost, installation, and maintenance of such equipment.
  • Participates in training about standardized policies and confers regularly with owner management about wine bar operations.
  • Controls labor by understanding the flow of everyday business, looking at prior history, realizing the happenings in the community.
  • Provides regular, accurate, computerized reports of operations to owner management.
  • Responds to customer and community interests such as donation requests.
  • May assist with large party planning or catering; including drafting contracts, collecting deposits and creating special menus in collaboration with management.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

  • +5 years management experience

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word Processing programs, Mac OS.
