Oak & Honey Catering is a boutique catering company that focuses on seasonal and local ingredients to make gorgeous food for in person events and drop-off catering. 

We are looking for a Sous Chef with off-site event experience and attention to detail. Someone who comes to work in good spirits and full of integrity. Our Catering company offers a full-time position that not only focuses on food and management but also an equal work/life balance.
The position includes overseeing the BOH staff, ensuring quality and consistency of food, ordering and inventory, training and hiring, and it is a hands-on position.  Oak & Honey is a small team and you’ll be working directly with the owner, Zach.  We are looking to grow and you’ll be directly involved in growing this team, training new employees and scaling operations. There is plenty of room for growth as Oak & Honey continues to grow!

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and monitoring hourly BOH labor and productivity
  • Assisting the Executive Chef and Owner, Zach
  • An understanding and execution of Department of Health Food Safety Standards
  • Maintaining Food Cost
  • Build on the current menu and program, create and implement new menus focused on variety, seasonality, presentation and consistency, updating and improving as tastes and seasons change.
  • Product Development
  • Upholding our work standards with a positive attitude
  • Overseeing food prep and production at our offsite events kitchen to execute drop-off catering and events
  • Placing orders and maintaining inventory
  • Ensuring the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and maintenance routines and checklists
  • Lead the team with empathy and integrity and ensure strong, respectful, productive communication across all teams
  • Prep, bake/cook, and package all products in conjunction with the kitchen team.
  • Work with the Chef to establish and achieve clear individual performance goals

Skills & Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented: must have the ability to create systems for managing daily tasks
  • Works well under pressure: must be able to gracefully respond to demand in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter: must have the desire to drive the business forward and understand its many moving parts
  • Advanced and accurate knife skills
  • Ability to supervise a time to work in a clean, organized, efficient manner, upholding all protocols for safety and sanitation
  • Motivated, high level of energy and work ethic
  • Must have leadership qualities and the ability to manage/build a team 
  • Must have a positive attitude

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years kitchen management 
  • Minimum of 2 years working in an off-site events
  • Proficient computer skills (Google Suite, excel, Microsoft Office, Google Cal, social media, etc).
  • Drivers license helpful but not required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible schedule
  • Food Protection Certificate
  • English language proficiency is required, Spanish proficiency is highly valued.
  • Pre-existing relationships with local food vendors are a plus but not required.

COMPENSATION

This position is : salaried, 58,500k-65k, depending on qualifications and experience.

This position has the opportunity for off-site Lead Chef positions at $40/hour as extra pay.
