Job description

Malai is seeking a Full-Time Marketing Manager to join our growing team and oversee all aspects of marketing. The role will report directly to the Founder/CEO and is responsible for leading marketing efforts to drive brand awareness, community, and support sales growth by sharing our love and passion for South Asian culture, ice cream, and bringing moments of joy to our customers. 


  • Plan and implement marketing efforts across digital, social (including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter), email, ecommerce, PR, and other media.
  • Manage both short and long term marketing plans to support sales, revenue, and profit objectives of the organization.
  • Aid with the curation of a consistent brand voice and messaging across all platforms.
  • Evaluate and recommend channel development programs.
  • Build local, regional and national partnerships and leverage relationships with brands for continued growth.
  • Work with Operations (which includes Kitchen, Shipping and Store), as well as Marketing team (which includes Design, Photography and Web), as well as Founder and CEO to manage short-term and long-term innovation plans for new products from inception through launch. 
  • Collaborate with all teams on promotional initiatives within wholesale, retail, ecommerce, and foodservice channels.
  • Stay current on new tactics, tools, and partners that can improve our position in the category as well as the marketplace.
  • Work with Founder and CEO to build up personal brand and develop opportunities to aid the sales of overall company growth.

Project Management

  • Organize and build a proper master file with everything and anything related to our needs.
  • Create and manage master marketing, assist with content creation and photoshoots, and promotional calendars.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on all key performance indicators, and provide in-time strategic recommendations.
  • Develop, coach and motivate a marketing team that will grow with the company, developing clear work plans and goals.

Social Media 

  • Build upon existing and new categories of content including: content creation, content roadmap, category research, and content production.
  • Execute cross-departmental marketing plans on all social media channels (Newsletter, Instagram, Facebook & TikTok), including implementing strategies to grow our audience, keep our followers engaged, and drive sales and traffic to our business channels.  
  • Create more community touch points.
  • Manage affiliate program & influencer program.
  • Develop paid search & social strategies that focus on driving customer acquisition
  • Oversee the day-to-day execution and optimization of social media
  • Remain up-to-date on segmentation strategies and trends


  • Maintain digital shelf to ensure visitors have content that is up to date, functional, intuitive, and optimized. 
  • Work with graphic designer and web developer to lead ad hoc projects for larger scale site updates.
  • Aid with the development of a seamless and delightful shopping experience including discovery, check out, and post-purchase check ins to drive customer retention and lifetime value. 

Collaborations and PR

  • Maintain master PR lists
  • Cold and warm reach-outs with press ideas, and press releases surrounding launches
  • Work with Founder and CEO to develop meaningful collaborations
  • Maintain close relationships with press, influencers, etc. 
  • Ideate and execute public relations initiatives throughout the year 


  • 3-5 years experience in Social, Digital, Marketing, or related fields 
  • Previous experience as part of a food brand
  • Proficiency in G Suite and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Google Sheets. 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Lightroom, Canva, Video editing software, or other similar programs
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools and reporting; experience with Google Analytics, Facebook Ad Manager
  • Knowledge of ecommerce platforms like Squarespace
  • Has the ability to successfully lead, guide, and develop a growing team
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills and ability to collaborate with internal and external parties. 
  • Exceptional project management skills
  • Proven history of self-direction, creativity, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Great copywriting skills
  • Familiarity with our brand is a bonus!

  • Salaried, Full-Time position, $70-80K annually DOE
