With demand for our cheeses growing, we are looking for an experienced cheesemaker to lead our six member cheese team. You will oversee all aspects of our cheese production including the hands-on making and maturation of nine different artisan cheeses, food safety and quality management, packaging, and product development.
We are looking for someone who is a strong leader, meticulous, detail oriented, hands-on and passionate about the craft and science of artisan cheese.
Expectations & responsibilities:
• Hands on involvement in all aspects of the cheese making process – from the vat to our state-of-the-art aging facility
• Ongoing product development
• Demonstrated passion for artisan cheese
• Help to improve processes to enhance food quality, consistency, and safety
• Effectively manage a small team in a fast-paced setting
• Take initiative and solve problems quickly and efficiently
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety Programs
• Knowledge of food science, cheese cultures, various ripening techniques, and sanitation practices
Requirements:
• 5 years of experience cheese making
• Able to lift 50lbs
• Able and willing to work all day on your feet in a warm, wet environment
• Commit to a flexible 40+ hour work week
