As a Production Associate, you’ll be a member of the team that grows and prepares our standard-setting mushrooms for the shelf. Responsibilities include receiving and preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness, harvesting, assembling packaging, packing mushrooms and ensuring that every finished product meets our quality standards. Working as a Production Associate at Smallhold will expose you to the fundamentals of production, cultivation, food safety, quality assurance, warehouse management and more.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

• Receive and unload material shipments
• Prepare agricultural materials for grow rooms
• Harvest, prepare and process mushrooms prior to packing
• Pack mushrooms in retail and bulk packaging to exact weight requirements
• Assist in set up, tear down and clean up of work stations
• Assemble and break down cardboard boxes
• Assure quality and presentation of packaged mushrooms
• Assist with data tracking and logging as needed
• Clean and sanitize facilities and equipment
• Adhere to proper practices for food safety

• Comfort with hands-on, physical work
• Comfort with standing for long periods of time
• A get-it-done, do-what-it-takes attitude
• Excellent and consistent attention to detail
• Comfort with the erratic schedule of farming (this is not your typical 9-5)
• Ability to work in a variety of temperature controlled environments between 35-75°F
• Physical requirements: must be able to lift 30 pounds
• Interest in mushroom cultivation
• Experience with food safety is a plus
