Curio Spice Co. is a woman-owned, certified B Corp(R) dedicated to finding unique, organic spices around the world, sourcing them responsibly and bringing them together in artful blends. We operate a brick and mortar store and kitchen in Cambridge, MA where we sell pure spices, original spice blends, and spice accessories as well as teach classes and hold events. We aim to create an intense sensory and educational experience for people who visit our shop and to bring them closer to the communities of farmers around the world who cultivate these flavors. Our products are sold online, directly to restaurants, at farmers’ markets, and through other retail stores across North America.

We've got a beautiful brick & mortar shop filled with curiosities and we need YOU to help make our customers feel welcome and inspired. Curio Spice Associates are responsible for delivering a uniquely educational retail experience to all shop customers. You'll be trained on product knowledge and sales techniques to create a memorable customer experience and build the Curio brand through word of mouth messaging. If you're passionate about ethically sourced ingredients, unique flavor combinations, home cooking, and engaging customers in conversation about all of the above, we want you!
Our shop is located in North Cambridge, a 5 minute walk from the Davis Square T stop. We offer competitive wages, a warm & enriching work experience with room to grow in our small, mission-driven company. We are following strict COVID safety measures to ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Greet and create a welcoming environment for all Curio customers upon arrival to the store
- Share and explain Curio’s mission and values to its customers
- Educate and guide Curio’s customers through our spice offerings, house-made blends & tools
- Operate POS; handle returns, exchanges, and gift wrapping
- Answer the phone; assist customers and process/fill phone orders
- Answer spice and cooking questions and provide a tour of the store and its contents
- Help meet and exceed sales goals
- Pack and label spices for retail and special orders, as needed
- Assist with packing and labeling spices for wholesale, as needed
- Maintain quality control, observe batching protocols
- Organize and assemble gift sets
- Assess back stock and update pack list accordingly
- Communicate stock levels to Front of House Manager to maintain inventory
- Restock shelves, rotate product, maintain Curio shelf and display merchandising protocols
- Participate in staff sensory training exercises and display in-depth knowledge of Curio
