Job description

We are looking for someone to join our team as our Front Of House/Retail Manager.

• This position is part hospitality wizard, part educator, and part retail manager, and is a crucial position in cementing the Harana Market experience for our customers.

• The customer experience is incredibly important to our ethos. You will work closely with Eva and Chris to understand the nuances of Harana Market and our customer experience, and you will be empowered to create a welcoming and inclusive experience for all who walk through our door.

• You will be the main point of contact for our customers during business hours (Thurs - Sunday). This includes welcoming and greeting customers, taking hot food orders via phone and in-person, checking out customers with grocery items, answering questions about products including ways to use them and maintaining rapport with regular customers. During busy periods, you will have a fellow retail associate to assist you. As Manager, you will be responsible for any escalated questions or concerns among your fellow associates.

• Education is a big part of the Harana Market experience. We serve lutong bahay (homestyle) Filipino food and for our non-Filipino customers, we take the time to explain the dishes and their origin and are looking for someone with the interest and passion to do the same. On the retail side of things, you will be expected to learn about new products and ways of using them and share these learnings with our customers. You will get $50 each month to spend toward trying new products.

• You will oversee the person responsible for inventory and be the middle person between the inventory/stockist and the buyer.

• You will be responsible for the general upkeep and operation of the market and side yard. Setting up the hammocks and stools in the morning, auditing the cash drawer at the beginning and end of the day, updating and printing daily hot food menus, tidying and re-organizing the Narra Studio display, facilitating our rotating “Employee Picks” product selections, restocking shelves after rush periods, etc.

MUST-HAVES

• Curiosity and passion for Asian food and culture and a willingness to share this curiosity and passion with our customers.

• The ability to manage multiple fast-paced tasks at the same time

• An outgoing and hospitality-driven personality

• The ability and desire to work independently

• Experience working in retail, preferably 2-3 years experience at Assistant Manager level or beyond

• Availability to work full time, Thurs-Sun

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds, comfortably walk up/down stairs and stand on your feet for extended periods of time
