Spring Creek Farm is entering its third year of production as a CSA farm. We cultivate Certified Organic vegetables on 7 acres, and rotationally graze Angus cattle and egg-laying hens on another 120 acres. We operate according to organic standards and continually strive for harmony with nature.
Job description
We are looking for a livestock manager to join our farm team. Our ideal candidate is organized, experienced in all aspects of animal husbandry, and motivated to help us build and fine-tune our animal husbandry systems. We care for 300 egg laying hens, one herd of beef cattle, one herd of mama cows, and one small flock of sheep - all of which are always on pasture. Duties include feeding and watering all animals, collecting and packing eggs, cleaning coops, raising (and processing) meat birds, fence upkeep and daily rotation of cattle herds through pasture, shearing sheep, as well as generating sales through our farm market operations and wholesale outlets.
This job requires us to be outdoors in all weather - heat, humidity, cold, rain, snow, etc. All applicants need to be fit, able to work independently or with a team, and live a healthy lifestyle with a positive attitude.
We expect a livestock manager to work 40-50 hours/week, just like the rest of us. Base salary depends on experience. Great potential for bonuses based on ability to increase meat and egg sales. All employees have free access to “ugly” veggies, plus a 20% discount on meat and eggs from the farm.
Salary range is from $36k - $50k, depending on experience
