Company description River Whey Creamery is a fast growing artisanal cheesemaking operation in Schertz, Texas.  We are just on the outskirts of San Antonio which has a blossoming food culture. Our company currently has seven employees, so we all wear many hats.  Hours are somewhat flexible, although we live and die by the timing of the cheese makes, events and classes, and the needs of our customers.

We specialize in raw milk, small batch, cave aged cheeses.  Yes, we have cheese aging caves!  We are the only cow's milk artisanal cheesemakers within 75 miles of San Antonio. We have a strong partnership with our farmer - Four E Dairy of Moulton, Texas.  We drive to the farm twice every week to get our raw milk. Job description We are looking for an employee who has some culinary background, either education or other work experience - minimum of 1 year.  We need this employee to be able to work in the creamery, make the milk run, work in the cheese caves, wash dishes, be accurate with measurements, and be able to lift 50#.  There are many specialized tasks in the creamery and we provide full training.

This position is a full-time position based on experience, work ethic, and availability. Schedule will be 30-40 hours per week to start.  Must have open availability on evenings and weekends.

The work is challenging but fun.  You will learn about cheese science, attention to detail, grading and tasting cheeses, food safety protocols, and much more. This is a labor intensive job and requires the ability to stand for long periods, or drive for long periods.

Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have a clean driving record. Food safety certification is a plus, and will be required.  Training for food safety will be provided. Compensation this position is : hourly, varies DOE, $16.00 - $22.00 Application instructions
