Job description

Garbage to Garden provides zero-waste event services, introducing composting and recycling to a variety of events each year. We are seeking enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our Event Crew for the 2022 event season (roughly April - October). Be a part of our commitment to closing the food loop and diverting waste from landfills! 

Event crew member responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and monitoring event waste management stations
  • Keeping grounds clear of all litter throughout events
  • Sorting waste to maximize diversion and maintain a high level of cleanliness within designated area at all times
  • Removing waste from site according to event contract
  • Cleaning up site following the event & breaking down and packing up all Garbage to Garden equipment and supplies
  • Accurately recording, tracking, and submitting waste audit information
  • Being educated and informed (we will train!) about recycling and composting in the local area, as well as our event waste management program, to pass this info along to event attendees, vendors, and venue staff
  • Being a professional, positive, and responsible representative of Garbage to Garden at all events
  • If the candidate is interested, there may be opportunities to represent Garbage to Garden and share information about the services we provide at community events

All applicants must:

  • Be 18+
  • Be available on nights & weekends
  • Be comfortable working outdoors
  • Be able to consistently lift 50-75 lbs and work on foot for up to 12 hours
  • Be committed to learning the ins and outs of composting and recycling
  • Be ready to work hard & have fun in a team environment, and not be afraid to get a little dirty
  • Have a positive attitude, be ready to engage with the community, and be excited to learn

This is a seasonal position. For the right candidates, there are opportunities for additional work that could lead to full-time and/or year-round employment.

Compensation:  $18.00 per hour
