Job description

Urbanspace is seeking a full-time Market Manager to join our Pop-Up Market Team. The Market Manager is instrumental in producing multiple pop-up markets throughout the year. This is an extremely dynamic (and FUN!) position that requires you to roll up your sleeves and wear many hats. The right candidate will be able to work in the “gray area” and can find success even when the task at hand isn’t exactly black and white. Approximately 50% of this job will be completed at your desk in our Union Square headquarters (insert gorgeous, rooftop views here) and the other 50% will be done in the field: onsite at the outdoor markets, meeting with vendors, site visits, and doing occasional market research. Currently, this position can be performed remote 2 days per week until we go into production starting in late September/early October.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Curate a top-tier vendor line up for the pop-up markets by constantly seeking out new vendors, researching unique markets, and actively cultivating relationships with prospective vendors throughout the year
  • Develop and circulate informational brochures and vendor applications
  • Lease pop up markets by preparing license agreements, select vendors from pool of applicants, and collecting signed contracts
  • Invoice vendors and evaluate market fees
  • Track financials and provide updated rent reports to senior team
  • Prepare detailed landlord packages for our partners
  • Coordinate build out, vendor load in and load out, and strike of the pop-up markets
  • Coordinate with Operations and Production teams to prepare for and run the markets
  • Coordinate multiple teams of contractors during production phase
  • Liaise with Marketing Department to develop marketing initiatives and brand recognition to captivate customers and drive traffic
  • Serve as main point of contact for high volume of market vendors
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects by establishing deadlines and holding yourself and others accountable for deliverables
  • Complete special projects as needed
  • Ensure vendor compliance with the State Liquor Authority, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, ADA, and other relevant city agencies
  • Work onsite during the markets to address any vendor issues and ensure vendor compliance
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in either events, production, or retail
  • Must have the maturity and discretion to handle high-level communications with the Urbanspace partners such as local BIDs, community boards, NYC Parks Dept, and other city agencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Dropbox, general technology
  • A “people” person who is good at disseminating information and is skilled at developing a high level of trust from their coworkers and supervisors
  • Strong work ethic and a willingness to go above and beyond
  • Proactive and resourceful approach to finding the solution
  • Unwavering positivity and constant professionalism
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication
