POSITION SUMMARY: At Barnacle Foods, we’re on a mission to do good for our oceans, communities, and future, and we’re looking to add a dynamic team-member who has a passion for delicious foods, providing an outstanding customer experience, and who doesn't mind getting their hands a little kelpy. This position currently manages our customer support and order fulfillment operations, and supports production, with the potential to further shape the position to the strengths and interests of the right candidate.

Pay: $20 - $24 per hour, DOE

Leading & Organizing a Happy, Productive and Engaged Fulfillment Team 

  • Oversight on packing and order fulfillment, monitoring and ensuring orders are packed accurately, at the correct rate, and fulfilled on-time
  • Working with leadership to determine weekly warehouse schedule, determining priorities and staffing, and ensuring that daily and weekly goals are met
  • Developing standardized work flows that are logical and enjoyable for team members to implement
  • Providing fulfillment training to team members, offering constructive feedback and positive appreciation
  • Taking ownership of the warehouse operations and continually taking on more responsibilities
  • Maintaining a safe and supportive work environment  
  • Facilitating a positive culture and camaraderie among employees
  • Personally packing and fulfilling online and wholesale orders (i.e. on a daily basis)
  • Driving orders to the post office and stocking shelves of local retailers

Providing an Outstanding Customer Experience and Inspiring Brand Loyalty 

  • Helping the Barnacle Foods team increase the love for our products and brand by neatly and efficiently fulfilling orders 
  • Oversight of customer happiness and service
  • Supporting customers directly with shipment or order issues, maintaining the voice of Barnacle in customer communications 

Kitchen Production – Transforming Kelp Into Delicious, Everyday Foods

  • Working on production, transforming kelp and other flavors into tasty foods for our customers to enjoy, often peeling, cutting, dicing, measuring, mixing, etc. 
  • Working on the production line, transforming our kelp creations into shelf-stable products 
  • Completing training to meet food handling requirements
  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen facility, including kitchen surfaces and dishes
  • Ability to comply with food safety protocols for food processors
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and work on feet for 8 hours a day

Strategy & Operations 

  • Analyzing customer data and Key Performance Indicators to inform strategy 
  • Developing strategies and goals for improving customer experience and service
  • Analyzing key metrics relating to performance and cost of fulfillment including order efficiency, accuracy, and cost
  • Creating and implementing practices for improving systems and efficiency
  • In addition to above, special projects will be assigned and ongoing duties for production and processing will continue to exist. Work with Matt to determine priority of non-core projects.
