  • Job type Part-Time
Company description Brooklyn Forest offers classes in Central Park and Prospect Park for young children and their caregivers. We believe a wonderful childhood starts with imaginative play and a supportive community; with a meaningful connection to nature and wildlife; with vigorous physical work and nourishing food; with simple rhythms and constant singing; with feeling at home in the forest. Brooklyn Forest began in 2011 as a small class in the woods of Prospect Park for a handful of families from nearby neighborhoods. Now, a decade later, hundreds of children and caregivers from all over the city come every week to play and learn with us in the park. Our classes are still small, but our community is growing. Job description Brooklyn Forest is seeking a lead forest school teacher to help guide outdoor parent-child classes five mornings a week during our fall season, from September 7 to December 19.

The weekly schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 12:00 in Prospect Park or Central Park.

The starting wage is $24/hr with paid training, plus a transportation stipend and paid sick days. Fall forest school teachers are invited to continue teaching in the winter season, which starts in early January.

At Brooklyn Forest, we work to nurture the whole child with a simple class that includes imaginative play, delicious food, and a sense of wonder. Learn more about us at www.brooklynforest.org

Committed to attracting and retaining a diverse staff, Brooklyn Forest School will honor your experiences, perspectives, and unique identity. Together, we strive to create and maintain a working and learning environment that is inclusive, equitable and welcoming.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) and at-home Covid-19 tests will be provided to teachers. We require all teachers to be fully vaccinated and boosted against the coronavirus. Compensation this position is : hourly, $20/hr + Application instructions
