Job description

Custom Foodscaping is seeking a seasonal crew member to assist on installations during our busy season.

Custom Foodscaping helps people grow organic fruits and veggies at their homes, businesses or community spaces with the mission of creating a healthier and more connected world. 

We offer full service design and installation services for any type of food-producing landscape. We specialize in customized raised veggie beds, herb gardens, food forests and campus gardens for schools, corporations and community organizations.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for helping with most aspects of foodscape preparation and installation.

This is a great opportunity for someone to learn many aspects of edible landscaping, horticulture and basic carpentry. 

Responsibilities/Activities 

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Digging, Planting, & Edging

  • Weeding & Mulching

  • Moving materials in wheelbarrows

  • Assisting in carpentry projects and using power tools

  • Assisting in masonry projects

  • Assisting in nursery organizing and propagation

  • Procuring materials from hardware stores and nurseries

  • Potentially running small machines (sod cutter, tiller, mini-track loader) 

  • Maintain a high level of good housekeeping & care of company assets in the field, vehicles, lot, office, & client work-sites.

  • Maintain regular & reliable attendance at a level acceptable to the company. 


Qualifications

(Desired but not required. Candidates with a passion to learn are encouraged to apply): 

  • Experience in a landscaping, gardening, or farming role

  • Familiarity with edible, medicinal, & useful plants

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. plus, multiple times a day 

  • Ability to work in all weather, including extreme heat & humidity and cold

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Valid driver's license required to fulfill job duties

  • Working cell phone

  • Because our job sites are often located in areas without access to reliable public transportation, we only recommend that applicants with access to a vehicle apply.

  • Must be available for work Tuesday through Friday

  • We generally use Monday as a planning and organizing day. This position is a 3-4 days per week role from Tuesday-—Friday

  • Seasonal work is from March-—November 

  • Depending on company growth this position could turn into full-time year round work with CF 

Compensation this position is : hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $20.00 Application instructions
