Company description

Nightingale is a small, artisan bread bakery in Forestville, CA. Our focus is handmade, organic breads baked in a wood-fired oven. We are a supportive team of dedicated bakers, working hard to make the best product possible, while having fun and enjoying our craft. 

The bakery utilizes a 6 ft x 8ft wood-fired oven based on the designs of Allen Scott. We bake a majority of naturally leavened loaves, as well as french baguettes, focaccia, and a few other specialty loaves. We also do teacakes with rotating seasonal flavors, cinnamon rolls on Saturdays and scones on Sundays. We are small, but we have a diverse variety of products that we vary depending on seasonality. There are many opportunities to practice creativity and to come up with new and fun ideas. 

Job description

We are currently hiring for a all around bakery position, to be filled by ASAP. Hours would be Wednesday through Saturday, with an additional 5th day (Tuesday or Sunday) on occasion when needed. Approx. hours to start:  Wednesdays 730 am to 330 pm, Thursdays 11am to 6pm, Fridays and Saturdays 9:30am to 5:30pm. Average 30 to 32 hours per week. Pay DOE, plus shared tips. Some flexibility required.

Shifts would be made up of shaping, mixing, and prep with a requirement to learn the retail side of the bakery as well. Eventual possibility to learn bake shifts working with the wood-fired oven, possibly by September.
We’d like to find someone who has a passion for bread, has some customer service skills, and is looking to be involved in a small business/local community.

Other requirements:

· At least 1 year experience working in a commercial kitchen preferred, has a passion for food and willingness to learn and collaborate.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and be on your feet for 8 hours.

· Ability to work independently and make decisions as needed.

· Customer service skills. Ability to interact positively with customers, attention to detail, and a propensity for sales.

· Must have or obtain a California Food Handlers Card, as required by the health department.

· Weekend availability a must. Desired shifts are Wednesday through Saturday.

Compensation this position is : hourly, varies DOE, $16.00 - $19.00 Application instructions
